Greetings from Leh

I just reached to Leh, after unplanned cycle trip from Manali to Leh, which took 9 days and now we are in heaven phones are working, internet is fine and we just saw Pang Tso Lake. I’ll try to upload pictures soon.

Leaving to Leh

After 2 years of planning and visits to Lahaul Spiti region,¬† I’m ready to visit Leh Ladakh region. Today I am leaving with one of my friend to Leh. He is a bit psycho and I am bit scared of his evil ideas. In evening, we both are leaving to Manali either by HPTDC or HRTC bus. We’re following Manali-Leh highway afterward, we both have been to the mid of this highway, hopefully we wont be caught in hitches and delays.

Route: Delhi-Manali-Kyelong/Jispa-Sarchu-Leh .. here is a google map stuff for our route .

Potsdam passionately romantic

Potsdam is located in the south-west of Berlin, Germany. There is a 5 min connection from S-Bahn line to Potsdam. S-7 is most frequent on this Route and all you need is a A+B+C ticket which cost 2.90 Euro one side or better buy all day A+B+C ticket which cost around 6.0 Euro and you can travel anywhere in ABC zones all day. Even you can ride on buses in Potsdam with all day ticket.

I heard alot about Postdam from Simon and Evi, and one day James added more about Potsdam. However they also mentioned in winter its not as beautiful as summer, but ISanssouci Park was there for winters and couldnt miss this opportunity. I bought all day VBB ABC zone ticket which cost me 6 Euros and headed to Alexendraplatz and from there I took S-7 to Potsdam Hbf. which took around 25 mins to reach Potsdam Hbf. I was searching for Bus to Sanssouci park and after wasting lot of time on bus station I found mostly every bus goes near Sanssouci Park. It was a cloudy day and I wasnt expecting much but as i stepped there comely greenery took my breath away. But it didnt hold for long as there was some G-8 thing and helicopter noise ruined the peace over there. Secondly, all artwork was covered as they were protecting them from German winters. Lastly maintance work was a lot at that time. probably I made there in wrong time. But nevetheless I enjoyed and found it passionately romantic place. Visiting a castle is not quite easy, you need an advance reservation for visiting castle, thats why I missed castle.

Potsdam city itself a well oriented and a bit expensive than Berlin, but here you feel quite different, life has slow pace and lots of place to shop on streets which gives it a romantic feel. There is nothing much you can do if you are alone here, but a family, girlfriend and friends could really make it more fun. Potsdam also have lots of places to see like Einstein Tower, Bradenburg gate, University complex. Some people thinks they need 3 hrs for potsdam but according to me you need at least 2 days to have a deep look at Potsdam. In the end I had a coffee at authentic cafe and I moved back to Berlin. While I was in Berlin I made 3 trips to Potsdam and hopefully I’ll make more visit there.

Kustrin Kietz – German countryside

German countryside has always astonished me. The beautiful grassland, wavy highway and comfortable train ride already impressed me a lot. But I was searching for more real lifestyle and I headed to Eastern border with Poland to complete my picture of Eastern Europe. I got a cheap all day ticket and Licthenburg was my station for NEB Kostryn-Berlin Train. Unlike Berlin Hptb. Licthenburg is still quite old but trains are always one time. Train passed lots of beautiful villages but eventually I had to get off at Kustrin Kietz.

It was Easter morning and I could hardly see anyone on roads, but some families were traveling to meet there families. I saw lots of people staring at me, probably amazed to see a tourist in their town. My German is almost nowhere near to my English, but still one old man was quite interesting in talking with me. He came closer and said something in German, which I interpreted at “If you are going to main city, i can drop you there” but he said “I am going to cut some trees, would you like to join us.” When he gave me an axe then I realized he asked me to help him. It was fun, I cut some wooden blocks and loaded in his car. We drove back pretty fast and then I left him to explore the town, I walked around 4 Kms to see the town. I could hardly see any shop or people on road but in the end it turned out to be a one of the memorable trip. When i reached to Polish Border then I realized its time to go home now.

I am home!

I am again back to home, this time I traveled EU for an internship .. I spent my most of the time in Berlin and east Germany and now a bit nostalgic about my trip, nevertheless feeling good to be home after a long phase. I guess now i am off a bit from traveling for 1 month due to university examination, but I promise to keep posting short stories from my last trip.

Indian Kitchen is smelling!

Last week, I was travelling along Berlin Tiergarten, which consists of Germany’s largestZoological garten zoo in zooloigcal garten and Aquarium. Tiergarten looks similar to Connaught place in New Delhi. I was there to extend my air tickets to my airlines office.

This week wIndian Kitchenas pretty stressful at work but beside that, I ate Indian food allmost everyday in this week. Andy my neighbour have been to India couple of times and he is very keen to cook Indian spicey food. I oftenly enjoyed Dal and Rice at his home, but today i was my turn to cook something and I made Rajma (Kidney Beans) and Rice.

Prolongation

A day before my visa was going to expire, I went to Ausl√§nderangelegenheiten (Alien office in Berlin), which was a bit unorganized and its quite easy to get visa extension in Berlin. I extended my visa in Berlin for 21 more days and now I am flying to New Delhi via Istanbul on 11th April. I hope I’ll see the leftover things here in this extra time here.

Dresden – a wonderland

I spent around 6 weeks in Berlin and I didnt really find anything special here, so I decided to make a day trip. It was all my plan, untill JT shew his interest in this trip. After just 5 mins of discussion we ended on Dresden, for me it was residual of world war 2. JT come anc picked me for Hauptbahnof one of the biggest station in Europe. HauptbahnofI bought a “happy weekend ticket” which just cost 33 Euro for 1 day unlimited travel in Die Bahn local trains (RE, RB) and entered to the inquiry counter, this lady said we have train in every to hours so we were pretty relaxed and after a big sigh this lady said “next train is in 2 mins, and I dont think that you can catch this one.” We start running to Glice(platform) and saw closing doors, but suddenly JT pressed button and door opened again for us. As soon as we entered JT start poking around to find a best seat (JT is 22 year old american guy, so now you can imgaine whats best seat for him). He found a seat next to a young girl but unfortunately she left us alone at next station. He took some card out of his bag and we started to play “momo” a German card game. After 2 hrs and we finally reached to a place to change our train to Dresden.

Trains are pretty much on schedule in Germany and we changed our train on time, It was pretty raining and darn cold. We just start talking about grading in german Dresdenschool and soon we joined one german couple. We reached to Dresden on time and these couple were there to meet a local friend from Mozambique and this guy invited us to see Dresden and we just walked into his car with these german pair and spent around 2 hours near Elba bank and lately we went to swinger and Frauenkirche. Later we decided to turn back to Berlin though I really didnt want to leave.

Berlin – Its sonorous

After 3 chilling weeks in Berlin, Sun starts shining in the sky. I dont know how long it will last, but its all wonderful in Berlin at the moment. Last week I allmost broke my false teeth and had to go to a typical German dentist who made a bill of 45 Euro. Later I found time from my not so busy schudule and visited Reichstag ;ReichstagWhich is about 30 mins from my place. It is one of the modern architecture after it got rewamped in 1999. I just had preview of this building and then I headed to the parlienment house which is just left of this building. Later I entered into some tredy fast moving Berlin. I was on time and lucky enough to see a bit of road show of Internation Film festival in Berlin. Today its sunday and I am bit lazy to go out in a sunny day, so I decided to spend the whole day in kitchen, of course not cooking but taking shower because my shower is in Kitchen. See you soon!
